Day 2/3 Update
An excellent night sleep last night meant everyone was bright eyed and bushy tailed for the activities; we did 'lights out' at 9pm, and every room was sleeping soundly by 9.20pm! "It was the BEST night's sleep EVER' was a comment overheard in the breakfast queue this morning!
We've continued with our range of activities today, including the Confidence Course, which everyone has tried their hardest on and all have conquered their fears. Children have also enjoyed climbing, blind trail, rafting and camp craft.
Lunch today was hot chicken or tomato soup with 'make-your-own' sandwich of cheese, ham, tuna or salad and a cookie for dessert. The children are eating well and enjoying the 'wonders' of the vending machines.
We have focused today on getting the children to be a bit more responsible for themselves in terms of clothing/things they need for activities. Lots of children are relying on others to remind them to bring/get certain items for activities, so we hope that they will return slightly more organised and independent!
Hopefully more photos later on; please do bear with us; its difficult to download/resize/edit and upload photos all the time because Chad Vale staff are working 24/7 and we are having to do it in our breaks, from the main reception office on site which is only open at certain times. Thanks to everyone for their kind blog comments, we have been passing them onto the children when we can.

Day 1/2 Update
The children slept 'ok' last night after lots of excitement and chatting in the rooms but everyone slept through the night and were up bright and early for a hot cooked breakfast. We've done the hill walk at Carding Mill Valley, BMX biking, high ropes, rafting, camp craft and scavenger hunt. We are also very excited about the disco this evening; time to strut our stuff in our spangly dancing pants. More photos later and maybe a short video if there's time to edit and publish. Photos are on the school website! :-)
Internet connectivity is particularly bad this year, so we won't be able to send Twitter messages home this year, but we have another solution, check back tomorrow for more info! :-) We are passing on comments you have left on the blog to the children though and they are all happy and having a great time!

Day One update
We've had a great first day at Manor, after a good journey here without any incident (sick!). The children have unpacked in their rooms and have had a tour of the site, a fire drill, dinner of roast chicken/spag bol/roast pork/potatoes/veg and rice pudding, and are now completing their second activity. We've published the photos on the Chad Vale website, and we'll post the link shortly. If you can't wait they will be on the front page.
Looking forward to a peaceful nights sleep… :-/

Leaving Time/Monday arrangements
Children need to come to school at normal time and leave suitcases in the main entrance.
Please wear what you like on Monday for school, but you will need your Chad Vale jumper for the journey.
Please pack your spending money (lots of change please) safely in your case. You will be responsible for your money throughout the week. Try to set yourself a daily 'budget' so that you don't run out of money before the end of the week!
If parents indicated on the medical form that you are happy for Chad Vale staff to give paracetemol, ibuprofen or anti-histimine without calling home first, please pack this in your child's bag and label it with their name. These will all be collected on arrival at Manor.
If you require us to administer other prescribed or regular medication you will need to fill out a Medical Form on Monday morning.
The staff going on the trip are Mr. Sansom, Mr Rai, Mr Hemmings, Mr Singh, Mrs Burnett and Mrs Shergill.
If you have any urgent questions, please email me at headteacher@chadvale.bham.sch.uk. I will be checking emails over the weekend and throughout the week next week if you need any further information.

Please initial EVERY item of clothing!
In the past we have returned from residential trips with 3-4 black rubbish bags of lost/unclaimed clothes. Please spend some time while packing to mark ALL items of clothing with your initials or name. A 'sharpie', dark felt tip or biro is ideal for this and we suggest writing it on the washing label of each item. This will then wash off on your return! Many thanks! :-)
